Two more weeks in Haiti

Gary and I have returned from 2 weeks in Haiti!!

Our first week was spent with a medical team from Nebraska, and our 2nd week we were "solo" as team hosts for GCA, hosting a team from California as well as a small team from Pittsburgh, plus Dan from NC and Sarah from FL.

To sum both weeks up, we had an awesome time with awesome people serving an Awesome God!!!

I knew several of the team members from Nebraska before we went on the trip, and let me tell you, as a Medical Team these guys are rock stars!!! They have been to Haiti before and even with the "newbies" on their team, they ran a fantastic clinic for 5 days, seeing over 1500 people!!! As part of their team they brought down 4 guys that ran a vision clinic and through that clinic, many Haitian men, women and children were able to see clearly for the first time!! There were stories of heartbreak and stories of joy all mixed in to a week of serving Christ through serving others!

Each night we also had a time of debriefing and through out the week we looked at the Book of James. Five days, five chapters of James!! It was awesome!!

Our 2nd week was the first time we were there without the leadership of Frank and Karen, the GCA Team Coordinators. Thankfully, we have been to Haiti several times with them and they were only a phone call away :) We welcomed a team from California/North Carolina and a team from Pittsburgh/Florida.  We knew 3 team members going into the trip and came away with 7 new friends!!!
The teams blended so well and spent the week hanging out with the kids at the school/orphanage and Seat D'eau's as well as doing check ups on the school students that the Medical Team was unable to see the week before. Our Pittsburgh guys, Dan and Steve worked on the campus, repairing and replacing items as well as planning for future projects.

Every trip I always say "this was the best trip yet" I think the huge blessing in going to Haiti so often is seeing the progress that is being made through GCA. We also continue to meet new brothers and sisters in the Lord and make new friends for eternity!!

We have two more trips scheduled in 2013, another Medical Trip in July with a team from Pittsburgh and a Maintenance/Medical Trip in November.

I would have never written all of this in the story of my life, but that is what is so cool, God is the author of my life and He has a story written for me and even when the plot twists and turns, He is still writing it and caring for me in every storyline He has for me!!

I am losing count of the number of close friendships I have developed through my times in Haiti, I count it a privilege to serve with each of them and to continue to be a part of the lives of the children in Haiti. My life and heart are filled to overflowing!!
